I had the privilege of meeting Moritz and this book truly brings to life the love and comfort that seems to accompany him. It's a wonderful book for all ages and I plan to add it to my collection--not just for my kids but me too!

What a sweet entertaining story which is set in to pages of artistic splendor. If you ever have loved a dog, this is a must get book. How refreshing to read something simply innocent and lovely. The pictures will warm your cold winter bones. What talent this woman has in bringing the breed to life. If you buy only one childrens book this year, let it be this one. Its great for adults too!

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Childrens Book!!!   November 15, 2005

After reading Nose to Nose, I only imagined Barry would create such a touching account of Moritz's life for children to understand. These dogs have deeply enriched my own life and his book helps for children to understand how much an animal can help to change their life too. All animals are special and deserve such recognition that Moritiz has received. He is helping to bridge this gap!! Thank you for the wonderful book. We have read it almost every night since we bought it!! Looking forward to more of Moritz's adventures in the future!!

Lovely illustrations capture the essence of a gorgeous, huge, appealing Bernese Mountain dog. You immediately want to hug him. He becomes a therapy pet and visits children in hospitals to cheer them up. The story taps into the strong emotional connection between humans and dogs, as well as the importance of compassion and non-verbal understanding. A lesson for both children and adult readers is that everyone has a gift to share, even dogs.

5 out of 5 stars Wisdom and joy from Moritz   October 26, 2005

Once again Barry Schieber and Moritz bring a gentle and profound message for kids and adults alike. This time, Moritz tells his story, from early puppy-hood in Switzerland to his emergence as a therapy dog. In doing so, Moritz reminds us that one sure path to happiness is to give freely of who we are by finding our special gift and offering it openly to others. The notion that each of us has something special to share in the world is an immensely positive message. Wisely, Moritz does not just present the idea, he ends his story with a provocative question that will surely lead to the kind of conversation we all seek with our kids. And by the way, the illustrations carry with them the message of the words, an additional gift.
